The Servants of the Trinity is a newly planted seed of consecrated life in the Diocese of Wichita in Kansas. On Pentecost Sunday, May 15, 2016, Bishop Carl Kemme signed the degree approving the constitutions inaugurating the Servants of the Trinity for the Diocese of Wichita.  The following Sunday, May 22 - Trinity Sunday - the first member professed vows before the bishop at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and began a public life in the Church as a witness that God is the “one thing necessary.”  On December 28, 2016, Our Lady of the Trinity Priority was opened.  It’s a residential home located in north central Wichita and provides enough room for initial growth.

A Religious Family… At present there is provision only for consecrated women, but the vision is to become a religious family made up of three branches: one of consecrated women religious (canonesses regular), a parallel branch of consecrated men – priests, deacons, and brothers (canons regular), and an associated group of lay persons who share in the spirit, life, and mission of the Order. The Holy Spirit will unfold the other two branches by prompting souls as He wishes and in His time.

Consecrated... As Servants of the Trinity, we form a community of consecrated life whose members are consecrated to God and his Church by the public profession of the solemn vows of chastity, poverty and obedience in the canonical life.  

Canonical Life... As those who live the canonical life, we strive to imitate the vita apostolica, the life of the early Church gathered around the apostles, all members being of one mind and one heart and holding all things in common. Because of this, we hold communio at the heart of our common life. Further, as members of the canonical life we are bound to celebrate the sacred liturgy with care, devotion, and beauty, a traditional focus of the canonical form of religious life. We live a more monastic lifestyle, but we also engage in apostolate service. As canonesses and canons, we are bound to the particular canonry into which we are incorporated through our religious profession, and to the diocese in which canonry is located. As is common for the canonical life, our constitutions reference the Rule of Saint Augustine of Hippo.

Liturgical Apostolate... Not only do we make efforts to worthily celebrate the sacred liturgy ourselves, we also pledge to engage in the new evangelization by promoting the liturgy in a variety of ways in service to the Church at prayer as she celebrates the Sacred Mysteries.  This begins with striving to make our own life a living liturgy, to live immersed in the liturgy, and to go out as apostles of the liturgy.

The Meaning Behind our Title

Servants... As Servants, our desire is to be totally and ever available to God, loving and serving him as he wishes.

…of the Trinity... The pattern of the spirituality of the Church is: to the Father, through the Son, in the Holy Spirit.  Bearing the name of the Trinity, we are called in a very special way on behalf of the praying Church to remain, together with Mary, the Handmaid of the Lord, immersed in the Trinity in contemplation of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in their consuming love for one another and for each of us.

Models of the Servants of the Trinity

The Holy Trinity… We have a special devotion to the Most Holy Trinity. The unity and communion that is the life of the Trinity is held up as the example and pattern of our life as consecrated persons living in community. Our mission is to celebrate and promote the sacred liturgy which is the loving work of the Holy Trinity carried out for our good.

Christ Our Eternal High Priest: Since the Holy Trinity accomplishes the work of our redemption through the sacred liturgy, at the heart of our life as model and exemplar is the person of Jesus Christ under the title of Our Eternal High Priest.  It is our vocation to imitate him who, through the power of the Holy Spirit, as priest and victim, offered his perfect eternal sacrifice of love on Calvary to the glory of his heavenly Father for the redemption of all, and who now reigns gloriously in heaven making intercession for us.

Mary, Handmaid of the Lord:  Our principle patron saint is our Blessed Mother Mary under the title of the Handmaid of the Lord. We strive to imitate her “yes” to God. Her fiat at the Incarnation was a yes, not just to that one moment, but to everything throughout her life. It led her to stand beneath the cross of her Son on Calvary, perfectly united with his supreme priestly offering of love, and to the glory of heaven, crowned queen of heaven and earth by the Holy Trinity, where she again unites her Son in interceding on our behalf.

Other special patrons are Saint Joseph, Husband of Mary, Saint Augustine, Saint Patrick, Saint Joseph Mary Tomasi, and Blessed Carlos Rodriguez.
